Samuel Lathrop grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he spent his childhood studying classical piano and guitar. He was offered a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, but decided to study music at Texas State to remain close to home. Since graduating, he’s been working full time as a professional Austin-based session player and touring musician. He’s toured rigorously across the US, and he’s shared the stage with some of Texas’ finest, including Bob Schneider, Jack Ingram, Shinyribs, and Blue October.
Sam currently studies under Guthrie Trapp from Nashville, but he eagerly takes on students of his own too. He’s an experienced theory based instructor, who specializes in teaching beginner/advanced acoustic and electric guitar, beginner piano, and beginner bass.
