Contemporary Jazz Studies Major Christian Lloyd is a born leader. The first of five siblings is also the first in his family to attend college. At Lincoln College, Lloyd has assumed leadership roles in his field as a Teaching Assistant, as 1st Chair Trombone in Jazz Ensemble and leader of the Lincoln College Jazz Combo.
The Chicago born and raised senior is also a born teacher, reveling in his role as a trombone and piano instructor at the Lincoln Park District and Jazz Playformance instructor at the First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. He’s also a talented composer of music, having written pieces and contributed storylines for the Lincoln College CJZS Music Revue performances of “Langston in Lincoln,” “Off the Grid LC,” and “The Jump Jive Jukebox I and II.”
Lloyd also secured a prestigious internship with the Orbert Davis Jazz Summer Academy in Chicago as a composition instructor.
Away from his music studies, Lloyd also spent three years as a Resident Life assistant and SOAR leader, and was a board operator and announcer for the LC campus radio station 89X.
