Amy is originally from Glencoe, Illinois, where she started playing violin at the age of five, recorder at eight, and viola at ten. Currently, Amy serves as section violist in the San Antonio Symphony and has performed with the Utah Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, and Austin Symphony. She received her BM in viola performance degree with highest honors from the University of Michigan where she studied with Professor Yizhak Schotten. Recently, Amy was appointed as a violin, viola, and recorder instructor at the Anthem School of Music. For the past three years, Amy has coached sectionals and taught private students for the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio. As part of the Community Outreach and Education Program with the San Antonio Symphony, Amy has also coached sectionals at Lanier High School, taught a master class at John Jay High School, and demonstrated her instruments for students at various San Antonio schools.
