Lauren Gray is a violinist/fiddler hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana. She picked up the violin for the first time at the age of 6 and never really put it back down. Lauren moved to Nashville three years ago to pursue a degree in Commercial Violin performance at Belmont University and can be heard playing with the Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble and World Fiddle ensemble. Though she was classically trained, Lauren fell in love with fiddling at a young age and is a proficient fiddler in the celtic, bluegrass, and old time styles. She has been lucky enough to study with teachers such as Ryan Joseph and Billy Contreras and has also attended master classes taught by Natalie MacMaster, Hanekke Cassel, Jeremy Kittel, Alasdair Fraser, and Natalie Haas. Lauren has been teaching violin for about four years and has experience teaching all ages and skill levels. Her teaching style is completely tailored to the individual needs and goals of each of her students. Laying a strong foundation in technique and basic music theory will take up half the lesson, and the other half is focused on repertoire and style, both of which can be chosen by the student. Lauren is also a singer, songwriter, guitar player, and pianist and is very open to teaching in those areas as well!
