Victor Battista is a music educator and performer from Wappingers Falls, NY. He is a graduate of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and has earned two bachelor degrees in instrumental music education and clarinet performance, as well as a minor in conducting. In the Spring, Victor will be beginning UT Austin’s Master of Music Program, studying with renowned clarinetist, Jonathan Gunn. Victor was principal clarinet of the Opera Maya Orchestra where he made history being a part of the first opera company to play in Carillo Puerto and Isla Mujeres. While at IU, Victor performed with the IU Wind Ensemble, University Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra. He has had the pleasure of performing for renowned pedagogues Eli Eban, James Campbell, Charles Neidich, Kenneth Grant and Michael Galvan. His past instructors were Ayako-Oshima Neidich and Steven Kieley. He has experience teaching clarinet and piano privately as well as beginning band, string musicians, and general music theory and songwriting at various locations in Bloomington and Nashville, Indiana. His musical goals for the classroom are to provide students with an appreciation for music they can take with them after high school, regardless of their career paths. He plans to do this through creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
