Desiree Hunter

Desiree Hunter was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee where she got her start in middle school orchestra playing the viola. Currently, Desiree plays viola in the Nashville Reading
Orchestra and volunteers her summers teaching music in Moshi, Tanzania with the Daraja Music Initiative. She studied privately under the tutelage of Hillary Herndon and Dr. Kate Lewis with a primarily classical background. Desiree received a B.M.Ed. from the University of Tennessee and a M.M.Ed. from Illinois State University. She has taught orchestra, chamber ensembles, andprivate lessons to almost every age and skill level! Desiree’s approach to teaching is primarily Suzuki based. In addition to teaching violin and viola, Desiree also teaches beginner/intermediatecello, double bass, and piano lessons. When not creating music, Desiree likes to read, knit, and spend time with her cat, Bucket!
