Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Isabel Castillo started her musical training at an early age when she first joined a local mariachi group, where she played guitar, vihuela, and violin for more than 15 years. As a graduate of Americas High School, she studied under Adria Dunn, and privately with University of Texas at El Paso Violin professor, Dr. Stephen Nordstrom. Ms.Castillo graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, where she was under the tutelage of Philip Lewis. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in Concert Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and the UNT Jazz String Ensemble. Ms.Castillo believes that students should have an education with a diverse and culturally inclusive environment. Isabel enjoys traveling, learning new instruments, and reading!
