Tim Janakos-VanCampen is from Orange County California. After 13 years in Japan, he is now residing in San Diego. Tim studied music and performance since age 6. After studying in elementary, school, jr. high school and high school, he also studied music at 5 different colleges and graduated with honors from Soka University of America, with a bachelors in Humanities. He has taught for over 15 years: guitar, piano, saxophone, singing/song writing, English and math. With over 100 songs to his name and 4 CDs, he specializes in song writing and enhancing live performances. He won a radio song competition in Japan and recently won first place in Adult Alternative for the American Song Writers Association (ASA). Along with an extensive background in music, he is also a certified energy healer and has used his energy work to help people open up to a fuller a wider range voice. Tim has a 3 octave vocal range and was lead singer in a Gospel choir that sang wedding in Japan for 5 years. Back in his early college days Tim sang in the Palomar College Gospel Choir and Palomar College Chamber Singers. He was also a saxophonist in the Palomar Jazz Band, the Mesa College Jazz Band, the Orange Coast College Symphonic band and was the marching French horn soloist in High School and concert French hornist in the Orange County Unified High School District's Honor Orchestra. He prefers to work with beginners and with people who want to increase their creativity and learn to make their own original music. Recently 4 of Tim's songs were played on 91x FM, San Diego.
