Julia Ortiz–Luis currently resides in sunny San Diego! Her passion for music began when she started taking piano lessons at the age of 8. Soon after, Julia found herself involved in numerous choirs, musical theatre productions, then decided to major in Music Performance at San Diego State University. She is currently in her last semester of college, where she found her passion for opera, and had the wonderful opportunity of working with the well-known composer, Ricky Ian Gordon. Some of Julia’s favorite roles include Maria in West Side Story, Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Amahl in the opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. Julia has been teaching voice lessons for the past two years in the style of classical and musical theatre, but believes that singing in any genre can be done with the proper technique. When Julia is not teaching, she enjoys playing with her dog, practicing the ukulele, and spending quality time with her family and friends!
