Robert Herrold grew up in northwest Indiana, where he fell in love with the guitar at an early age. After playing guitar in many rock bands as a teenager, he began his studies in classical guitar at Valparaiso University, where he graduated with a degree in Music Education. Robert then made the move to Chicago, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Urban Education and began his teaching career in the Chicago Public School system, teaching guitar and general music to kindergarten through eighth grade students. In Chicago, Robert continued to play guitar and drums in multiple bands, and performed with the Chicago Community Guitar Ensemble at the Vandercook School of Music. Robert moved to Austin, Texas in 2018 and began teaching classical guitar and concert brass at KIPP Austin College Prep. In Austin, Robert has also performed with the Austin Classical Guitar Chamber Ensemble. He enjoys spending time outside with his two dogs and his wife Charlie.
