Steve was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, and he lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He participated in music classes throughout his K-12 years.
Steve is currently Gospel Choir Director for Marquette University, and he plays piano for a local church, after having performed as a piano vocalist in the cruise industry for 8 years prior to the pandemic. He has taught middle-school general music and choir in Dallas and Milwaukee.
Steve studied voice with Michael Belnap at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music with a minor in Education. He studies piano with Christina Fordham.
Steve teaches students ages 10 through adult. He specializes in pop, R&B, and gospel. His teaching philosophy is that music should be fun for students, and that anyone can learn to sing if teachers meet them where they are in their understanding and ability. Steve believes in teaching students the kind of music
that they like. Singing shouldn’t feel like a chore!
In his spare time, Steve likes to deejay and to write fiction.
