Izzy Jeffery

Izzy (Maria Jeffery) is originally from Fort Wort Texas where her insatiable love for guitar was first born. From the age of 9 years old, she began to teach herself the basics of guitar which quickly then led her to begin writing her own material. By the time she was 12 she began performing at local venues and opening for bands in the DFW area as a one-woman band. At the age of 17 she opened up for Natalie Merchant’s 10,000 Maniacs. At 19, she began to co-write with country artist Radney Foster and performing at the City Winery in Nashville Tennesse, even sitting in at songwriter’s circle at the cities notorious Bluebird CafĂ©. For those who have seen her perform have described her as a lead acoustic virtuoso who often improvises and implements percussive elements throughout her performance. In addition to the guitar, she also has experience playing the piano as well as the bass guitar. Her philosophy for teaching is centered around allowing the student to exceed at their own pace and to help them discover a passion for learning about and practicing their instrument. At the end of the day, she really just hopes her students are a little more excited to pick up the guitar every day than they were the day prior. Izzy now resides in Kerrville TX and focuses on writing with an interest in paving the way for others who feel a similar passionate, curious pull towards the guitar.
