Pianist, accordionist, composer, and sound artist Borey Shin, originally from New York City, has performed and collaborated with many esteemed members of the international jazz and improvised music scenes. He has 10+ years of experience teaching piano, accordion, composition, music theory, and electronic music production, in a wide array of styles including classical, jazz, hip-hop, and pop. Borey’s teaching philosophy is student-centered and holistic and incorporates keyboard technique, rhythmic and harmonic analysis, and ear training. He recently earned his Ph.d from UC Irvine in Integrated Composition, Improvisation, and Technology. He holds a Master’s in Composition and a Bachelor’s in Contemporary Improvisation, both from the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA.
