Brian Todd began playing woodwind instruments at age ten on clarinet. At thirteen he switched to saxophone which became his main instrument. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from Southwestern University in 1979 followed by a masters of music education with an emphasis in jazz education from the University of North Texas in 1981. Mr. Todd spent four years as a public school band director at schools in Killeen and Madisonville Texas. He has also done woodwind coaching at numerous public school and adjunct teaching at the University of Texas Permian Basin. He has taught students at levels from beginner to college and adult since 1981. Mr. Todd has played professionally since the late 1970s in situations including concert bands, jazz big bands, jazz and rock combos, musicals and studio recording. While saxophone remains his main instrument, he also doubles on and teaches clarinet and flute, as well as music theory.
