Javier Cabrera

Javier Cabrera was born in Vina del Mar, Chile, beautiful city in the coast. He began learning music theory and classical guitar at a young age, inspired by his grandparents love for classical music, to later transition to modern styles of guitar studies. He actively participated in his high school ensemble as the lead guitar player, winning several regional competitions in consecutive years. At the age of 18 he became the lead guitar player for the heavy groove metal band Ten Reasons, Valparaiso Chile, a national touring band. Studied electric guitar performance Diploma at International School of  Music, Providencia, Chile, focusing on jazz fusion –  rock. He studied with private jazz guitar teachers Mauricio Salfate and Emilio Garcia. He graduated from University of Playa Ancha with Bachelors in French-Spanish Translation with a Minor in Tourism. Javier moved to CT, USA in February 2008, he performed with local heavy metal bands as the lead guitar and writing and recording his own music, a fusion of jazz/heavy progressive metal/ambient/P&W. Featured as one of Guitar Center Studios, Danbury CT instructor for guitar, bass and keys, rock show band director, summer camp instructor, in-store guitar clinics and performances. Here in AZ he served at his old non denominational Christian church as the Worship band lead/ambient guitar. Javier currently teaches online guitar lessons, writes, records and produces his own music, for himself and for his friend’s youtube channels Az Wonders, as well as helping other musicians by sharing his insight in equipment and guitar builds. Even though having studies helps, being self taught is also a must when venturing with your passion, as it is with music, Javier continues his studies and dedication to perfect and improve his skills and language as a session guitar player performing 6, 8 strings guitars. He is an easy going person, when he is not with a guitar on his hands or recording, he devotes himself to God, animals, hiking, kayaking, outdoors and spending time with his old lady cat.
