Masato started taking classical piano lessons at the age of three. At the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he studied piano with Peggy Salkind, Mack McCray, and piano pedagogy with Kenneth Smith. After obtaining BM (Bachelor of Music) and MM (Master of Music), he further studied piano performance with William Race and the Fulbright Scholar David Renner at the University of Texas at Austin. He advanced to the Doctor of Musical Art candidate and studied extensively in music theory and music history. He was awarded in-state tuition for his high GPA 1990-1994. He accompanied for voice classes of Gilda Cruz Romo at UT Austin. He specializes in intermediate and advanced classical students.
