Ruth Choi was originally from Bandung, Indonesia, where she began learning classical piano since she was 4 years old. She did her credentials with Yamaha School of Music from Japan and the Associated Board of Royal School of Music from London. Due to her diverse background, her philosophy in teaching is that it is important for students to be trained to sight read, improvise, transpose, play by ear and able to come up with chord progressions. She tutored children from elementary to high school. Currently, she is active in her church playing piano and organ. She graduated with a B.S. in Nutritional Science from San Jose State University and enjoys exploring foods from different countries during her free time with her husband and friends.
