Serena has been playing piano for over 25 years. She received a scholarship from California State University Northridge for piano performance (rated #1 music department in the west coast). After winning several awards and playing competitively and in recitals across the United States, Serena has been giving lessons to children and adults in order to share her love for music. No one is too young or too old to learn piano. Serena enjoys structuring her lessons around what is fun and exciting for her students, while still ensuring that the fundamental techniques are taught so that improvement is seen after every lesson. Besides teaching piano, Serena also has a background in psychology and film. She runs the mental health awareness nonprofit Breaking Taboo, and is also comfortable working with people with special needs. She advocates that music is an excellent form of natural therapy, communication, and self expression, and enjoys giving the gift of playing music so that everyone can benefit from it.
