Ying Su


Born in Changsha, China. Ying Su is a Boston-based violist and instructor. Her most significant performances include an appearance with East China Normal University Orchestra, in Shanghai

at the Helvting hall of the Shanghai Conservatory. She has held concertmaster positions with East China Normal University Orchestra ,viola co-principle of The ShangHai Philharmonic Orchestra and ShangHai Qin Orchestra. Ying has won various awards and competitions, including first prize at the 2016 East China Normal University Concerto Competition, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Scholarship and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festivals Fellowship Award among others. She is pursuying a Master of Music degree from Boston Conservatory at Berklee (2018). She has attended masterclass with Dimitri Murrath, Jay Liu, Roger Tapping, and Honggang Li. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree From East China Normal University. Her teachers have included Rictor Noren(The Boston Conservatory at Berklee), Lila Brown(The Boston Conservatory at Berklee), Li Sheng(The Shanghai Conservatory ), Dapeng Sun(East China Normal University), and Shiwen Liu(The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra Symphony principal).


Violist Ying Su enjoys a varied career as a soloist and chamber musician. Ying has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and China. She is a first prize winner of the East China Normal University Concerto Competition at 2016. She is currently studying with Rictor Noren, Lila Brown, and Li Sheng. She is currently Master’s student of viola at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
